Independent Expert Jury

The work of the jury is the most important “quality factor” in organizing an art prize. A jury of experts is convened to filter out worthy works. Independent experts nominate those from the multitude of digitally submitted works that they consider to be artistically unique. The judging process takes place in two steps: nomination of the works deemed worthy of the award after a joint viewing on a large screen – and, at the final jury meeting, selection of the three award-winning works in the art disciplines of painting, sculpture/object, and photography/digital art.

The increasing relevance of non-artistic parameters in the assessment of artistic works may even be necessary, given the increasingly political content of art. Even if aesthetics are not always the most important artistic message, it should not be overlooked, nor should craftsmanship.

Nominations and winners of this supra-regional art prize are selected by an independent jury of experts. The submitted works will be anonymized to prevent any possible favoritism. The expert jury is not required, for example, to provide politically correct assessments, as the GERMANY ART PRIZE is not publicly funded. This approach requires that public subsidies are consciously avoided to cover costs – and that the jury is independent of any influence. According to Article 5, Paragraph 3 of the (german) Basic Law, among other things, art is free. This means that art is not subject to state censorship.

The names of the jury members for the ART PRIZE GERMANY 2025/26 will be announced after the final jury meeting. The names of the jury members for the GERMANY ART PRIZE 2025/26 will be announced after the final jury meeting.

Erich Kruse (Brunswick University of Fine Arts), Dr. Georg Trivisas (former gallery owner, artist, and poet, Hannover), Siva Fröhlich (artist, Hamburg), Hargen Depelmann (former gallery owner, Langenhagen), and Wolfgang Gied (transcendental meditation coach, Hannover). The selection of the above-mentioned jury members was coordinated with the 2024/25 patron, Prince Heinrich of Hannover.
