Procedure
Phase 1: The application and thus participation in the GERMANY ART PRIZE involves submitting photos by uploading a maximum of fife works of art (including paintings, sculptures/object, photography/digital-art, graphics) via the digital “APPLICATION FORM” on www.kunstpreis-deutschland.de.
Phase 2: From the digitally submitted work, a five-member expert jury (photo jury) is sighted on a large screen-and nominated those works that remove for the final jury session. The final jury meeting, at which the three prize winners are determined, takes place approximately one month after the nomination meeting.
Phase 3: The following art prizes are awarded in a celebratory setting in June each year:
- “GERMANY ART PRIZE” for painting”
- “GERMANY ART PRIZE” for sculpture / object”
- “GERMANY ART PRIZE” for photography / digital Art”
- “GERMANY ART PRIZE” for graphics”
A. Basic Information
1. Application: (1 to 5 works) on www.kunstpreis-deutschland.de (menu item: APPLICATION FORM)
2. Application deadline: see menu item CURRENT NEWS
3. The jury nominates submitted works for the final jury meeting up to 3 months before the awards ceremony.
4. Announcement of the works nominated by an independent jury of experts by email to the nominees.
5. The jury determines the nominations and winners by the end of February each year.
6. Art prize awards ceremony in June of each year. Ceremony location and date: Menu item CURRENT
Book for the GERMANY ART PRIZE: Publication of a print documentation and an e-book on www.kunstpreis-deutschland.de, in which the nominated works (photos, titles, texts), the prize-winning works (photos, titles, texts) – and the names of the artists are presented. The book will be available to buy in bookstores.
Artists whose works have been nominated by the expert jury will be presented on the website www.kunstpreis-deutschland.de (menu item GALLERY GERMANY) with their name, place of residence, art discipline and work title. The art prize winners will receive a prominent placement.
B. Conditions of participation for the GERMANY ART PRIZE
1. Academic education and/or an adequate exhibition vita.
2. There is no restriction of origin. Artists from Germany and abroad can apply.
3. Art disciplines: Painting, sculpture/object, photography/digital art, graphics.
4. The themes of the works to be submitted (1 to 5) can be freely determined (art prize slogan: Art powers future).
5. Place works via photo upload on www.kunstpreis-deutschland.de (menu item APPLICATION FORM).
6. Applications with up to five works (at least one work), each no older than 10 years.
7. Short description (max. 1/5 DIN A4 page per work) of the works to be given a title.
8. Artist biography: compact vita (max. 1/1 A4 page)
9. Processing fee / expense fee:
9.1 Submission of the first work: € 50.00 incl. value added tax VAT. (for artists under 36 years of age: 0.00 €)
9.2 Submission of a second work (if applicable): € 40.00 incl. VAT.
9.3 Submission of a third work (if applicable): € 30.00 incl. VAT.
9.4 Submission of a third work (if applicable): € 20.00 incl. VAT.
9.5 Submission of a third work (if applicable): € 10.00 incl. VAT.
- Art prizes: Gold awards in the disciplines of painting, sculpture/object, photography/digital art, graphics.
C. Terms of tender
C.1 Authorisation
Artists with an artistic or academic education (alternatively self-taught artists with an adequate exhibition CV) from Germany and abroad are eligible to apply.
One to five (1-5) original works from the art disciplines of painting, sculpture/object, photography/digital art and graphics, which are no older than 10 years and were created by the applicant, are permitted.
There are no restrictions on artistic expression. Not allowed to be submitted …
… fake works.
… heavily restored or damaged works.
… unlimited and unnumbered multiples.
… artwork not self-made (exception: designated joint work).
… works for which the exhibitor does not have the (co-) copyright or right of use.
… representations which contradict applicable German law in word and/or image.
C.2 Application on digital APPLICATION FORM (menu item on www.kunstpreis-deutschland.de)
The application takes place by submitting the works in digital form via the website of the organizer (www.kunstpreis-deutschland.de) by filling in the input fields and by uploading the works photo (s) as JPG file. The image file may be a maximum of 3 MB and not smaller than 300 KB. The image files must be clearly identifiable. Therefore, please ensure that the file name of the submitted photos (jpg) is as follows: Last name, First name, Art discipline, Title/Work name.jpg. Up to five (5) works can be uploaded as photos in digital form, no more than one photo per work.
Information about the work(s) (emong others art discipline, title, text) and the person of the artist (e.g. address, education, CV, age) must be complete in the digital application form so that the expert jury can review it and make a timely decision.
C.3 Deadline for the submission of at least one (1) – up to a maximum of five (5) works: see menu item NEWS on www.kunstpreis-deutschland.de.
C.4 Processing fees: >>> Young artists (under 36 years) pay no processing fee (€ 0.00) for the 1st work submitted!
Artists aged 36 and over who wish to submit more than one work (processing fee for the first work: €50.00) will pay a processing fee of €40.00 for a possible second work, €30.00 for a possible third work, €20.00 for a possible fourth work and €10.00 for a possible fifth work, including VAT.
>>> Young artists under the age of 36 do not pay a processing fee for the first (of a maximum of five works) (1st work: € 0.00). Processing fees will be charged for any second, third, fourth or fifth work submitted.
It is a declared aim of the GERMANY ART AWARD to provide financial relief to young artists, to provide exhibition opportunities and press contacts – and thus to promote their artistic careers.
An invoice for the processing fee will be sent by post and email. The processing fee should be received in the art prize organizer’s account within 10 days of receipt of the invoice. If payments are not received on time, applications may not be processed and for this reason not considered.
C.5 After the art award ceremony, the artists nominated by the expert jury will be listed in alphabetical order under the heading “PARTICIPATING ARTISTS / EXHIBITS” on the website www.kunstpreis-deutschland.de.
D. Jury decisions and prizes
D.1 First jury meeting
From the works submitted via upload, the independent expert jury will pre-nominate the works for the final jury decision. Artists whose work(s) have been prenominated by the jury will receive a notification by email from the art prize organizer by the end of February.
D.2 Second, final jury meeting
From the pre-nominated works, the final expert jury will select the final nominated works and the art prize-winning works in the disciplines of painting, sculpture/object, photography/digital-art and graphics. These are endowed with gold awards, which will be presented at the art award ceremony. The works awarded with the GERMANY ART PRIZE will be on display in their original form on this occasion.
The artist has no right of appeal against the decision of the jury. The jury will not justify the non-awarding of works. Jury members are obliged to maintain confidentiality. The only criterion for the jury is the artistic performance of the individual work. For this purpose, the art award organizer anonymizes the works submitted as far as possible before submitting them to the jury.
D.3 Delivery and labeling of the award-winning works prize-winning works
The prize-winning works must be delivered 7 days before the art award ceremony by parcel service or forwarding agent, or personally one day before the art award ceremony, at your own expense and risk. The venue will be announced in good time.
A delivery form must be filled out and attached to the outside of the packaging of the prize-winning works (with name, address and details of the work). A further form must be sent in an envelope inside the packaging during delivery. The corresponding blank forms will be sent by email.
A biography/vita (max. 1/1 DIN A4 page) relating to the artistic career must also be enclosed in print, as well as a description of the prize-winning work (max. 1/5 DIN A4 page) and the name of the chosen art discipline (e.g. painting) and technique (e.g. oil on canvas).
E. Award ceremony
E.1 The art awards ceremony will take place in a festive setting. Photographs and films will be taken. Artists and guests agree that photos and videos may be published. The press will be informed nationwide.
E.2 Collection of the works: The prize-winning works presented at the art award ceremony can (if they are not sold) be collected/taken away after the event at your own expense and risk. The art award organizer is not liable for this.
F. Exhibition terms
F.1 Once a work has been nominated for the art prize by the expert jury, it can no longer be withdrawn by the applicant.
F.2 Condition and configuration of the artworks: Paintings, photographs, graphics, digital art works must be provided with a stable frame and eyelets. Multi-part works (diptychs or triptychs) must be submitted as a hanging unit. An easel may be brought to the award ceremony for each work. For sculptures/plastics/objects that are not to be placed on the floor, the artist must also supply sculpture bases or pedestals. Any liability is rejected for glass and damage to works caused by glass splinters.
F.3 Direct sale or brokering of sales of works: Each artist agrees that his/her applicant work(s) – and his/her work nominated or awarded by the expert jury – can be sold to interested parties at a price to be specified in the application. The sales price of the work must include a 25% sales fee. After the works have been submitted digitally, artists are not entitled to change the sales price. If a non-nominated or nominated work or art prize-winning work is sold or brokered by/via the art prize organizer (including via www.kunstpreis-deutschland.de in the website menu area “GALLERY GERMANY”, at the art prize award ceremony, or later to a visitor to the award ceremony, directly or indirectly, e.g. via gallery owners, art dealers, auctioneers, collectors, tipsters or other groups of people or companies or organizations), the latter will receive a fee of 25% of the sales price.
F.4 Photos and videos: The art prize organizer is entitled to reproduce the applicant works, nominated works and award-winning works in online and print documentation as well as for press and PR work free of charge (photos, videos).
F.5 A book (as a print and digital edition/e-book) will be published for the GERMANY ART PRIZE. The nominated artists will each be presented on one page (1/1) with their works (photos and texts). Any type of copying, reproduction and further processing of digitally submitted photos of the works for other purposes and by unauthorized third parties is prohibited – and is therefore excluded.
F.6 The place of performance for all obligations relating to this art prize competition and the sale of works exhibited digitally or in the original is the headquarter of the organizer of the GERMANY ART PRIZE.
G. Final provisions
By applying and providing photos of their work (via upload) for the ART PRIZE GERMANY, the applicant agrees to all of the above provisions. The dates mentioned under CURRENT NEWS on www.kunstpreis-deutschland.de may be postponed by the art prize organizer for important reasons. We recommend checking that the dates mentioned under CURRENT NEWS are up to date.
